Domain Names
A domain name is an address on the internet and allows your website to be found eg. www.yourbusinessname.com – you can register a .com or a .com.au for your domain. It is often easier, cheaper and quicker to register the .com domain name ($19.95 inc GST pa). The .com.au domain name requires you to have a registered business name that is similar to the one you choose. You will often need to use your ABN to register the domain.
What’s Web Hosting?
A Web Host provides space on their servers to host the website you design. You pay a annual fee for this service. Once you have designed your web page, it’s saved as a file on the webhost. For your website to be visible on the web you need a webhost that specialises in serving files and web pages across the internet to ‘host’ your web page for you. Without a webhost your website would not be visible. We use a couple of webhosts – BlueHost or GatorHost
What’s It Cost?
This will depend on what you already have. If you have a domain name and artwork all you will need to spend is for hosting and our time at $330 inc GST for the first 3 hours, then $88 per hour. You may need to allow up to 3-4 hours depending on your skill levels.
Cost Breakdown:
.com domain name for 1 year $19.95 (eg www.yourbusinessname.com – renewed annually)
Website hosting for 1 year, say with HostGator $48 ( you will need to renew this annually)
Setting up your website with you – allow 3 hours $330 inc GST
Total cost under $600 including GST
